Here are some examples from clients:
This one was made by a client who has been practicing intuitive eating for about eight months. Her initial story was, "Scary To Let Go, But Exhilarating!" This was speaking to her process of letting go of the diet mentality in order to learn to trust her own body... the fear, oh yes, it's scary at first, and then the exhilaration, how liberating not to be calculating calories and exercise constantly! Her story today is this, " I Am Worthy And Loveable As Is!" This client is far enough along in the process to understand that as her relationship with food changes, so does her relationship with herself. It is and it isn't about the food. It is about understanding that you are a loveable, worthy human being, you are enough.
This client's first story was this, "Trapped In The Tunnel of Darkness." She recounted how she was not really living because her relationship with food was all consuming, it affected every aspect of her life. Once she was in the flow of intuitive eating, her story became this, "Awoke In The Garden Of Eden." She joked that it could also be the Garden of Eatin', because she has become a foodie. She doesn't want to eat anything that doesn't sound absolutely delicious and she can trust herself to tune in and eat the right amount for her body. Awaking in the Garden of Eden has to do with awakening to her life, her precious life. Once her relationship with food was no longer compulsive, she was freed up to actually live her life, be present to her partner, family, friends, and life adventures.
"Food, A Puzzle With Yummy Pieces, " and the after story, "Food, Important, But Not Everything."
"I Can Eat Whatever I Want!" and the after story,"I Can Eat Whatever I Want!" Same story, different emphasis. In the first story, the client was in rebellion mode, so tired of dieting or the thought of dieting again, so tired of the food police. In the 2nd story, the words are said in amazement., as in "I can't believe that I am now a person who can eat what she wants without overeating!"
